I’m pretty obsessed with this oversized t-shirt (you can also see it here), and a few weeks ago, I decided to pair it with these printed pants (usually I’d wear a sold black top or button-up with them). The funny thing is, wearing this outfit put me in a great mood for the whole day…
Probably because it’s so bright and summery, duh. Mixing these patterns works because they’re in the same color family. The blues, the greens, the tropical prints look cool and eye-catching when paired together.
This strawberry-basil Popsicle from People’s Pops was really good. Not too sweet, and perfectly refreshing. I picked one up as Tom and I were shooting this story on the High Line in NYC, the elevated, abandoned railway tracks that run from Gansevoort Street in the Meatpacking District to West 34th street.
I kept my shoes and jewelry simple, to not distract from the brightness of the outfit or overload it with more color.
Can you see my sandals? I’m going to switch to those in just a minute…
You can see how this look switches from dressy to casual, just by changing shoes. (By the way, if a t-shirt won’t fly at work, try a printed button-up.) The sandals transition it from serious to low-key (perfect if you’re headed to brunch or drinks!).
Try these picks to make this look your own:
Printed pants: Light blue with pink flowers (on sale for $44!), super bright flowers, black and white.
Oversized beachy- or tropical-print top (H&M has some of the coolest men’s tees): shine on, ombre, parasailing, shore scene, sleeveless, rolled sleeves.
Xoxo, H
