Spring starts this Sunday (woot woot!) and, as usual, I'm beyond ready for warmer weather, less layers, and the all-around lightness that seems to come with the season. I also have some major spring cleaning to do, I've had this urge to really cull through my closet and throw out/donate all the clothing I don't wear regularly. Although I don't have a "uniform" (i.e. wearing the same look every day), I do tend to have certain go-to pieces, like an oversize button-up for work or jeans and a quirky tee on weekends. Getting rid of all the clutter—things I don't ever wear—will feel so good. (The idea of a capsule wardrobe is kind of intriguing... and terrifying!) That being said, when I do buy something new, I try to think of it as an investment. And I usually wear the item a lot. These three shoe styles cover all the bases: They'll get you through any lingering cool days (when it's too soon for sandals), they're in a range a prices (none over $150), and most importantly, they're easy to wear, whether you're running errands on your day off, meeting friends for drinks, or packing your suitcase, headed for your next adventure! Take a look...
1. Silver Shoes
The ones above are from ASOS. They literally brighten up whatever I'm wearing—perfect for a night out. Try a similar pick below with dark-wash or black skinny jeans, which will make the metallic color pop. Keep the rest of your look simple (think monochromatic: like all black or all white) and the shoes will really pop.
Try: sneakers, lace-up oxfords, or pointy-toe loafers (on sale here and here).
2. Mules
The ones above are from French Connection. Try them with boyfriend jeans for a relaxed, trendy vibe or slip on a flat pair for running errands. Super chic!
Try: block-heel sandals, slipper-like flats, metallic-accent stacked heels, and faux-leather slides.
3. Flat Espadrilles
I wore the shoes above (from Soludos) a ton when I was in California last year (they're especially useful for climbing redwood trees, ha!). Espadrilles are the perfect thing to pack if you're traveling: they're lightweight and low-maintenance. I love the ones with ankle straps linked below, so fancy! With that style, even your most casual vacay outfits will look more dressy. Otherwise, pair any of these picks with a dress for a casual, chillin-by-the-beach feel.
Try: snakeskin pattern and ankle straps; white "rosé all day"; and blue "oui/non."
Happy (almost) spring!
Xoxo, Heather
