I did a good amount of research before I signed up for Rocksbox. Not because it didn’t look so enticing, and fun, and SPARKLY! But because I try to be careful where I spend my money (of course) and plus... I’m not a huge jewelry person. I’d rather have a bangin’ cool outfit (bangin’ is still a thing, right?!) that makes a statement then have huge, blingy jewelry pieces do the talking. (Not that I don’t love blingy styles, it’s just not my “everyday” look.)
Point being, I’m by no means jewelry-obssessed, and you don’t have to be either to love this service. I have certain rings, necklaces, and bangles that I wear on the regular. So I researched hardcore... I’m talking reading the entire FAQ section of the Rocksbox site twice kind of hardcore (haha). I also talked to my friend Jess (she’s an amazing blogger at Jeans & a Teacup), who uses and loves Rocksbox (you can see her post about it here). She answered any of my additional questions. So, my dear friends, I wouldn’t be talking about Rocksbox if it wasn’t supercool and worth the hype! (By the way, this post is unsponsored and all of my own opinion.)
When I finally signed up and got the first pretty box in the mail, untied the pink ribbon, and found the three gorgeous pieces nestled inside tissue paper... I was HOOKED.
4 cool things about Rocksbox...
1. You can specify exactly what your style is (i.e. are you more into silver or gold... or both? Do you wear jewelry more at night for going out, or at work... or all the time?). Then, you get to make a wishlist. I could spend hours adding pretty, delicate rings, necklaces, and cuffs to my wishlist. This is a good thing. Inside each box are three pieces; in my first box was the Greer V-neck Necklace in Rhodium by Gorjana, a Wanderlust + Co Crystal-Infinity Silver Ring, and a Nakamol Mixed Crystal Five Times Grey Leather Wrap Bracelet. Two of those were on my wishlist. So the more things you add to it, the higher the chance you’ll get sent those picks.
2. The designers! I already love Gorjana and House of Harlow, so knowing I could get pieces from those brands was a big sell to me. More designers that Rocksbox offers are here.
3. You can keep the jewelry for as long as you’d like. Pay the $19 monthly charge, and you can return your jewelry (with the prepaid packaging included with the box) as often as your heart desires. Oh, yeah!
4. You’ll try new styles. The ring I got in this box (see above) wasn’t something I would normally pick out for myself, but I ended up loving it. That’s what was fun, too: Rocksbox has you trying on pieces you might not normally pick out for yourself. (Plus, you get a discount on the jewelry in your box, if you decide you want to keep it! You can read more about that on Rocksbox.com.)
By the way: Since you receive the jewelry on loan, it is used, which might seem weird, but I didn’t even think about it (it looks brand new to me). Rocksbox cleans and disinfects all jewelry, according to the website.
The only downside for me is that it takes a while for the box to arrive and to get back to the Rocksbox warehouse, often over a week. I’m just so excited to get my next box that it’s hard to wait! The offices are based in California, so I’m on the opposite coast. It’s all good in the end. (Maybe it’s just another sign I need to move to Cali?!)
